SNAP-8, or acetyl octapeptide-3, is a synthetic peptide that mimics the N-terminal end of SNAP-25, a protein in the SNARE complex that drives vesicle fusion. By competing for a place in that complex, it interferes with neurotransmitter release. It is studied in cell-based assays of SNARE assembly, exocytosis and neuromuscular signaling.
