IGF-1 LR3 is a recombinant analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1, extended by thirteen amino acids at the N-terminus and carrying arginine in place of glutamic acid at position three. These changes sharply reduce binding to IGF binding proteins, so the molecule stays active longer. It is widely used in cell culture media and in studies of IGF-1 receptor signaling.
